​SAVE THE PLANET

It started with gathering baseline data. How many straws do students at FRES throw away on a daily basis. Students collected straws at each lunch shift and at the end of the day, we had our data.  Students created signs and displays to show the enormous amount of straws that FRES would dispose of in a school year. With this growing awareness, our students launched Straw-Free Friday. Students were encouraged to drink without using a straw or use a non-plastic straw. The cafeteria did not put out straws for our students. This became a very effective school-wide behavior change.  2018
