Kindergarten Recycled Robots

For the Recycled Robots unit, students were given a tray in the middle of their tables with found materials from around the  room such as feathers, cardboard, scrap paper that had been painted on, buttons, and jewels. We discussed taking materials that have been used before and creating something new and exciting with them! Students were able to explore various materials and make personal artistic choices depending on what they wanted their robots task to be, which is why each robot is so unique!

Grade 3  Butterflies

Our 3rd graders study the life cycle of butterflies. They have the wonderful experience of watching larvae be transformed into butterflies. This year we planted milkweed on school grounds and our 3rd graders set the butterflies "free" into the milkweed.

10/1/2018 - 137 students

"We took notes on and drew an illustration about the life cycle of a butterfly in our journals. " Dave, grade 3

"I remember while we were releasing the butterflies one of them landed on my hand. It just sat there for 2 min. I was looking at it the whole time and was thinking if I would ever experience that moment again."
